The deep purple-black fruit is considered a fruit of the gods in Hindu tradition. The \u003ci style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\"\u003epelaraan\u003c\/i\u003e frond arrangements invoke the ceremonial coconut frond decorations of Javanese weddings and blessings as symbols of protection, prosperity and the sweeping away of misfortune.
